ADJUST YOUR TRAILER SAFETY CHAIN LENGTH IN SECONDS!

MAKE ADJUSTING SIMPLE! MAKE TOWING SAFE!

OUR PATENTED SYSTEM MAKES ADJUSTING THE LENGTH OF TRAILER CHAINS SIMPLE! At Link Lock™, our goal is to make trailer towing safer and easier! Runaway trailers are the cause of numerous deaths every year. These are not only tragic for the families and friends of those involved, but they can also cost the owners and manufacturers of the trailers millions of dollars if the proper measures were not put in place to ensure that the trailer met the appropriate standards. Properly fitted trailer safety chains are vital to maintaining control of your trailer, and your towing vehicle, in any situation where the trailer comes decoupled from the ball. If chains are not fitted properly, the trailer could become completely separated from the towing vehicle or cause the towing vehicle to lose control.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

It is not very often that someone comes up with a completely new innovation in the trailer industry. This is really cool!

-Chis Pokornowski, Sales Manager, Towmaster Trailers

This is brilliant! I have always twisted my trailer chains because I didn’t know what else to do. This really seems like something that should be built into every trailer.

-Adam Johnson, Snowmobile Enthusiast

YOUR OPTIONS BEFORE LINK LOCK™

Twisting Your Chains to the Right Length

Many people twist their trailer chains to shorten them. Testing has shown that this can decrease the strength of the chain by up to 75%. This means that twisting is not only unsafe, but it also violates the applicable SAE standards. Fitting chains to your vehicle is clearly a frustration. Just read some of the towing forums and you will see dozens of frustrated trailer owners wondering how to properly fit their chains to their different vehicles. Link Lock™ makes this simple, and relieves a huge pain point for trailer owners!

Cutting Your Chains to Fit Your Vehicle

To anyone who is extremely familiar with towing trailers and the standards involved, it is no secret that the best way to make sure that your chains are the right length for your vehicle is to have them fit specifically to your vehicle. Unfortunately, this only works if there is only going to be one vehicle that pulls the trailer over the life of the trailer. Otherwise, you end up with chains that are too long, or too short. This creates a little bit of a cunnundrum in the trailer industry since most trailers are towed by multiple vehicles. Cutting your chains is no longer necessary with Link Lock™!

Looping The Chain Through the Holes in the Hitch Assembly

Passing the hook through the hole in the hitch assembly and then doubling it back and attaching it through a link in the chain is one way many experts will tell you to hook up your chains. This will work for some trailers, but in reality, for most trailers, the hook will not fit through the hole in the hitch assembly. Link Lock™ is a universal solution to this problem. No matter the size of your hook, you can easily adjust your trailer safety chains to fit perfectly to your vehicle.

WHY PROPERLY ADJUSTED TRAILER CHAINS ARE IMPORTANT

We have discussed why properly adjusted trailer safety chains are important in regards to maintaining control of your trailer and your towing vehicle in the event of a decoupling, but did you know that allowing the trailer’s tongue to touch the ground if it comes decoupled is against the law in 14 states! So just how much slack can trailer safety chains have and still stop the trailer tongue from touching the ground? The answer is not as simple as you might think, but in short, not very much! There are a number of variables that determine whether or not your trailer tongue will touch the ground in the even of a decoupling. To make things simpler, click the button below and enter a few dimensions to find out if your trailer tongue will touch the ground or not. You will need to take some measurements on your trailer and your vehicle.
